Melissa Southwick (Troberg) is a seasoned professional fiddle player with a lifelong passion for music and performance. She began playing at just six years old, quickly rising through the West Coast fiddle contest circuit and earning numerous regional and state titles, along with national recognition. Her deep roots in traditional styles and strong musical instincts have shaped a dynamic and versatile career.
Melissa is also a respected figure in the fiddle community, having served as a judge for many competitions, including the prestigious National Fiddle Contest in Weiser, Idaho. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from Chico State and shares her knowledge through private music instruction, inspiring the next generation of musicians.
Her playing spans a wide range of styles, including Texas Style, Bluegrass, Country, and Old Time. Throughout her career, Melissa has had the opportunity to open for nationally recognized artists such as Russell Dickerson, Parmalee, Riders in the Sky, Lainey Wilson, Nate Smith, Tyler Rich, Aaron Watson, Crystal Gayle, Dave Stamey, Pam Tillis, and Matt Stell, among others.
In addition to performing, Melissa enjoys studio work across genres, staying active in community service, and sharing the unique experiences of life in music with her family.
